He received his Doctor of Osteopathy from Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, Virginia, and he completed his residency in internal medicine at the Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, Virginia. Dr. Neal completed his fellowship in general cardiology at Ohio Health, Doctor's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, and he completed his interventional cardiology fellowship at The Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, Virginia. Additionally, Dr. Neal received his Doctor of Pharmacy at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia.
